Army Wives

Hooray!  I got my first role in a "real" series!  OK, so it's a really, really small role, a flashback scene, actually, which means you probably won't be able to blink or you'll miss me, but it's still a role with speaking lines!  Oops, forgot to mention that it's for "Army Wives" on Lifetime.  And it's a younger version of a fairly main character (Marda) so there is the minuscule chance that the role could be recurring...who knows.  They've been trying to get me in on a role that's not just a one-timer, but I'm ready to do this already!  So it'll be fun regardless (it's a flashback to the 80's so they're dyeing my hair to look 80's-ish...yes!) 

I was gonna say that this will be my first gig on national TV, but how could I forget my 3 seconds of fame drinking milk on the Colbert Report?? (Ah, the infamous "Pus-Head" moment...)  And supposedly you can see the Christian sitcom across the country and in places like Singapore (but I'm not telling you the channels!)  The gig for "Army Wives" should be exciting, for sure, especially since I'm playing a drunk...did I mention that?  Yep.  A drunk.

I'll keep ya posted on how it goes.  In the meantime, I'm a pretty happy camper with some theatre work coming up.  In October and November I'll be doing Bram Stoker's "Dracula" at the Aurora Theatre.  In December, they are bringing back "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" at Theatrical Outfit.  And in March and April I'll be in the musical "Tent Meeting," also at Theatrical Outfit.  Fun times!

Showing Up For Life

"The way we walk into a room says a lot about the way we live our lives. When we walk into a room curious about what’s happening, willing to engage, and perceiving ourselves as an active participant with something to offer, then we have really shown up to the party. When we walk into a room with our eyes down, or nervously smiling, we are holding ourselves back for one reason or another. We may be hurting inside and in need of healing, or we may lack the confidence required to really be present in the room. Still, just noticing that we’re not really showing up, and having a vision of what it will look and feel like when we do, can give us the inspiration we need to recover ourselves.

Even if we are suffering, we can show up to that experience ready to fully engage in it and learn what it has to offer. When we show up for our life, we are actively participating in being a happy person, achieving our goals, and generally living the life our soul really wants. If we need healing, we begin the process of seeking out those who can help us heal. If we need experience, we find the places and opportunities that can give us the experience we need in order to do the work we want to do in the world. Whatever we need, we look for it, and when we find it, we engage in the process of letting ourselves have it. When we do this kind of work, we become lively, confident, and passionate individuals.

There is almost nothing better in the world than the feeling of showing up for our own lives. When we can do this, we become people that are more alive and who have the ability to make things happen in our lives and the lives of the people around us. We walk through the world with the knowledge that we have a lot to offer and the desire to share it."

Hi all...Just wanted to quickly tell you about a super-fun book I just read: Ella Minnow Pea: A Novel in Letters by Mark Dunn.  Brilliant!  The most fun you'll have with the English alphabet.  A quirky summer read.  More soon!

Back in the South...

Well, I'm back in Atlanta...I had another awesome trip home.  Was really, really, REALLY hard to leave.  But I'm coming back to some great stuff, so all is good (except for this stupid humidity!!  Grrrrr...)  Here are some pictures from my expedition.  To my family:  I LOVE YOU GUYS AND MISS YOU ALREADY!!!
